Shared Living

In 2006, Central Aroostook Association began its Shared Living Program. Shared Living is an Article-Shared Living-clipart
individualized living arrangement in which adults with developmental disabilities can live in a family setting other than with their own biological families.

Our Shared Living Program for Aroostook County seeks out providers who can:

  • Provide safe, stable, secure homes
  • Develop and teach life-skills
  • Build healthy relationshipsArticle-Shared Living-House
  • Integrate individuals into their community.

Our Shared Living matching process involves:

  • Careful, intensive screening
  • Thorough training
  • Ongoing support and assistance.

Through this intensive matching process, providers and individuals live together and build family or roommate relationships. Sometimes this relationship can be a stepping stone to another type of living situation, although at times the shared living arrangement endures for many years.

To start the application process to become a Shared Living Provider, please print and fill out this Shared Living Questionnaire and contact our Director of Community Programs Allen Deeves at (207) 554-4544 or adeeves@centralaroostookassociation.com Feel free to contact Allen for general information about the program as well.
